Tinubu’s Policies Designed for Nigerian Youths, Future Development — Vice President Shettima

Vice President says President Tinubu’s reforms are driven by innovation, long-term national growth and a commitment to empowering Nigeria’s young population.

Vice President Kashim Shettima has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to empowering Nigerian youths, declaring that the policies and programmes of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration are deliberately designed to address the challenges of the 21st century while positioning young people at the centre of national development.

Shettima made the remarks on Thursday when he received the leadership of the City Boy Movement on a courtesy visit at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where he highlighted the administration’s belief that Nigeria’s future depends largely on the creativity, energy and productivity of its youthful population.

According to the Vice President, President Tinubu views young Nigerians not merely as beneficiaries of government policies but as critical partners in nation-building and drivers of economic transformation.

He said the administration remains convinced that the country’s long-term prosperity is tied to the success, inclusion and empowerment of its youth, whom he described as the lifeblood of the nation and the catalyst for sustainable progress.

Shettima noted that many of the reforms being implemented by the current administration are aimed at creating opportunities for young Nigerians in areas such as entrepreneurship, technology, innovation, education, skills development and economic participation.

According to him, President Tinubu’s governance philosophy is rooted in finding modern solutions to contemporary challenges, ensuring that government policies reflect global realities and prepare Nigeria for future competitiveness.

The Vice President explained that the administration recognizes the enormous demographic advantage represented by Nigeria’s youthful population and is therefore committed to creating an environment where young people can thrive and contribute meaningfully to national development.

He stressed that youth empowerment remains a central pillar of the Renewed Hope Agenda, adding that the government would continue to invest in initiatives that unlock opportunities for future generations.

Shettima also expressed confidence in President Tinubu’s reform agenda, describing him as a courageous and visionary leader willing to make difficult decisions in the interest of the country’s long-term development.

He acknowledged that some reforms may require sacrifice and patience but maintained that such measures are necessary to reposition the economy and secure a better future for Nigerians.

According to the Vice President, transformational leadership often demands bold choices, and President Tinubu has demonstrated the political will required to implement reforms aimed at strengthening the nation’s economic foundations.

He said the administration remains focused on policies capable of delivering sustainable growth, creating jobs, improving infrastructure and expanding opportunities for citizens across the country.

Addressing members of the City Boy Movement, Shettima commended the growing involvement of young people in governance, civic engagement and national discourse, noting that youth participation is essential for strengthening democracy and promoting inclusive development.

He encouraged young Nigerians to continue contributing positively to nation-building through innovation, entrepreneurship and constructive engagement, assuring them that the Federal Government would continue to create platforms that support their aspirations.

The Vice President reiterated that the administration remains committed to building a future where Nigerian youths can compete globally, contribute to economic growth and play a leading role in shaping the nation’s destiny.

Observers say the Vice President’s remarks reflect the administration’s continued emphasis on youth-focused governance and economic reforms designed to expand opportunities for a new generation of Nigerians.

With over half of Nigeria’s population under the age of 35, the government has repeatedly identified youth development as a critical component of its economic and social transformation agenda.

As the administration continues to implement reforms across key sectors, Shettima maintained that empowering young people will remain a strategic priority, describing them as the foundation upon which Nigeria’s future prosperity, innovation and national progress will be built.
