Sagamu APC Ward Endorses Gbenga Daniel, Declares Him Party’s “Prized Jewel”

Sagamu APC ward leadership endorses Ogun East senator for 2027, dismisses doubts over his party membership.

The leadership of Isote Ward 12 in Sagamu Local Government Area has reaffirmed the membership of Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel in the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing him as a “prized jewel” of the party amid recent controversies surrounding his political standing.

The endorsement was made during the ward’s monthly meeting held on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, where the Ward Chairman, Olusegun Olusiji, dismissed speculations questioning the senator’s position within the APC, saying the support of the party’s grassroots leadership had put all doubts to rest.

Olusiji praised Senator Daniel’s performance in the National Assembly, describing his representation of Ogun East Senatorial District as exemplary, particularly in the areas of legislation, constituency engagement and development advocacy.

“He is not just a member of the APC; he is our prized jewel, a beacon of progressive leadership and democratic values,” Ward Chairman Olusegun Olusiji said.

He noted that the ward leadership and members remain firmly behind the former Ogun State governor, stressing that his contributions to the APC and the people of Ogun East have been significant since he joined the party.

The ward chairman also formally endorsed Senator Daniel for a return to the Senate in 2027, describing the move as a reflection of widespread satisfaction among constituents with his performance rather than a symbolic gesture.

Addressing rumours surrounding the senator’s APC membership, Olusiji stated that the endorsement clearly confirmed his status in the party, adding that Daniel remains a symbol of progressive leadership and democratic values within the APC.

He further highlighted the senator’s extensive experience in public service, including his tenure as governor, noting that it has helped attract federal attention and development projects to Ogun East across sectors such as infrastructure, education, youth empowerment and healthcare.

The Ward 12 leadership urged party members across Ogun East to remain united and focused, calling on them to ignore what it described as attempts by opposition elements to cause division within the party.

The meeting, attended by party faithful from across the ward, featured strong expressions of solidarity with the senator, with members commending his accessibility and responsiveness to constituent needs.

Senator Gbenga Daniel, who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC in 2019, has represented Ogun East Senatorial District since 2023.
