Ogun Government Seals Two Abeokuta Fuel Stations Over Lack of Public Toilets

Conoil and Moore stations shut for violating environmental and public health laws as state intensifies fight against open defecation.

The Ogun State Government has sealed two fuel stations in Abeokuta for failing to provide functional public toilet facilities, in breach of state environmental and public health regulations.

The affected stations are Conoil Fuel Station located in Ibara and Moore Fuel Station in Asero. Authorities said the action was taken in line with the Environmental Management (Miscellaneous Provisions) Law, 2006, and the Ogun State Public Health Law, 2020.

Under existing regulations in the state, fuel stations, eateries, markets, and other public facilities are required to provide accessible and functional conveniences as part of broader efforts to eliminate open defecation and promote public hygiene.

Officials stated that the enforcement exercise is part of the government’s ongoing commitment to improving sanitation standards and ensuring compliance with public health requirements.

According to the directive, the Conoil station will remain sealed until it provides functional public toilet facilities, while Moore Fuel Station will stay shut until its toilet facility is fully rehabilitated and deemed fit for use.

The government reiterated that it will continue to enforce sanitation laws across the state to safeguard public health and environmental standards.
