Isese Day 2026: Ogun Government Reaffirms Commitment to Cultural Heritage, Religious Tolerance

State celebrates traditional religion practitioners, urges unity, peaceful coexistence and mutual respect

The Ogun State Government has felicitated traditional religion practitioners across the state as they join millions of devotees in Nigeria and beyond to commemorate Isese Day 2026, describing the celebration as an important occasion for promoting the state’s rich cultural heritage, traditions and identity.

The government, in a goodwill message marking the celebration, acknowledged Ogun State’s long-standing history of diverse cultural expressions and traditions, noting that the state’s strength lies in the ability of its people to accommodate differences in faith, belief and cultural practices within an atmosphere of mutual respect and peaceful coexistence.

It said Isese Day provides an opportunity to celebrate and preserve indigenous cultural values while recognising the important role of traditional institutions, customs and heritage in strengthening the identity of the people.

The government reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the rights of every citizen, irrespective of religious affiliation or cultural belief, and creating an environment where people of different faiths and traditions can live together peacefully.

It therefore called on traditional religion practitioners and all residents of Ogun State to use the occasion to promote tolerance, understanding, unity and peaceful coexistence, stressing that the continued development of the state depends on the collective commitment of its people to peace and harmony.

The government expressed optimism that the 2026 Isese Day celebration would further strengthen the bonds among the people of Ogun State and contribute to the state’s continued peace, progress and prosperity.

It wished traditional religion practitioners across the state a peaceful, joyful and meaningful celebration.
