IJEBU BOYS ASSOCIATION Elects New Executive Council, Swears in Officers

Barrister Kayode Okenla emerges President as IJBOYS charts new course ahead of 10th anniversary.

The Ijebu Boys Association (IJBOYS) has announced the election of a new Executive Council following its general election held on November 22, 2025. The newly elected officers were formally sworn in on December 28, 2025, and will serve a two-year term.

Emerging as President of the association is Barrister Olukayode Okenla, with Otunba Niyi Awonaike elected as Vice President and Pharm. Adesanwo Adebiyi as Secretary General. Other principal officers include Omoba Adetola Odusote as Publicity Secretary and Barrister Olusegun Ashaye as Legal Secretary.

Additional members of the Executive Council are Omoba Akinwande Adewale, Deputy Head (UK); Alhaji Olamide Okunowo, Financial Secretary; Major Ayodele Okuwa, Head of Strategic Planning (US); Mr. Oludolapo Olusoga, Treasurer (US); Omoba Adewale Odedina, Assistant Secretary General; Mr. Olan Olasimbo, Head, US Chapter; Otunba Babatunde Akintona, Chief Whip; Dr. Sesan Daniels, Deputy Head, US Chapter; and Olawale Siyanbola, Head, UK Chapter. The immediate past President, Mr. Olagbuyi Oduniyi, will serve on the council as an ex-officio member.

Founded in 2016, the Ijebu Boys Association is an elitist, non-profit, non-political philanthropic organisation made up of men who grew up in the Ijebu region of Ogun State in the 1970s and early 1980s. The association is committed to advancing human and physical development in Ijebuland through educational, economic, and social initiatives, thought leadership, as well as the economic empowerment and welfare of its members.

Over the years, IJBOYS has made notable contributions to health and economic development across Ijebuland. Among its flagship initiatives is the Annual Three-Day Free Medical Outreach, now in its seventh edition, which has provided free medical consultations, diagnostics, medications, and meals to thousands of residents. The association has also sponsored medical health insurance coverage for vulnerable members of the community, improving access to quality healthcare.

In further support of the health sector, IJBOYS has donated essential drugs to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH), Sagamu. On the economic front, the association successfully organised an Economic Summit and Trade Fair in 2025, aimed at stimulating local enterprise, promoting trade, and fostering sustainable economic growth within Ijebuland.

The newly elected Executive Council has pledged to consolidate these achievements while expanding the association’s developmental footprint across health, education, and economic empowerment in the coming years.

In his New Year message, the President, Barrister Kayode Okenla, expressed deep appreciation to members for their unwavering commitment and dedication to the association, while congratulating them on witnessing the New Year. He assured both the Executive Council and general membership that a new era of renewed focus and greater impact has begun for IJBOYS.

According to him, 2026 marks a significant milestone for the association as it celebrates its 10th anniversary. “The year 2026 is special for our great association as we mark a decade of remarkable successes and impactful contributions to humanity and the development of Ijebuland. We are fully prepared to sustain our vision, deepen growth, and lead Ijebuland to greater heights in line with Idagbasoke Dédé Akílẹ̀ Ìjẹ̀bú,” Okenla stated.
