Fusengbuwa Royal Family Committee Disowns Unauthorised Meeting, Warns Against Division

FRFMC Secretary, Prince Bola Salami, Says Sunday Gathering Was Not Authorised by Recognised Leadership

The Fusengbuwa Royal Family Management Committee (FRFMC) of Ijebu-Ode has disowned a meeting scheduled for Sunday, August 9, 2026, at Agunsebi, Ijebu-Ode, describing it as an unauthorised gathering capable of disrupting the peace and unity of the royal family.

The committee, recognised by the Ogun State Government to manage the affairs of the Fusengbuwa Royal Family, urged members of the public to disregard the meeting and any resolutions that may purportedly emerge from it.

The position was contained in a statement signed by Prince Bola Salami, Secretary of the Fusengbuwa Royal Family Management Committee, alongside Otunba Akin Odedina, FCA, Olori Ebi of Jadiara Royal House, and Asipa Wasiu Adedoyin Banjo, a member of the FRFMC.

Prince Salami and the other signatories said the meeting was convened without the authorisation of the recognised leadership of the Fusengbuwa Royal Family.

They recalled that the royal family had, before the intervention of the Ogun State Government, been divided into three factions led by Otunba Lateef Owoyemi, Prof. Chief Fassy Yusuf and Otunba Dokun Ajidagba.

According to the committee, the intervention of the state government resulted in an agreement among the three Olori Ebis to establish a collegiate leadership structure comprising representatives of the three factions.

The 12-member Fusengbuwa Royal Family Management Committee subsequently became the body responsible for managing the affairs of the family, including overseeing the nomination process for aspirants interested in succeeding the late Awujale of Ijebuland.

The committee said it had, however, been informed that Prince Adeleye Ademuyiwa, a member of the Otunba Dokun Ajidagba faction, had convened a meeting of the family without the authority of the other recognised Olori Ebis, particularly Otunba Lateef Owoyemi and Prof. Fassy Yusuf.

The FRFMC said such an action was unacceptable, stressing that any disagreement within the Ajidagba faction should first be addressed within the faction rather than being extended to the entire Fusengbuwa Royal Family.

“It must be stated unequivocally that if the members of the Otunba Ajidagba’s group have problems with their Olori Ebi, they should deal with it in their faction and not drag the Fusengbuwa Royal Family and the Ogun State Government into it,” the committee stated.

The committee consequently advised the people of Ijebu-Ode and members of the public to disregard any resolutions from the proposed meeting, describing it as an unauthorised gathering.

It also reaffirmed its support for the steps being taken by the Ogun State Government under Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, in handling the Awujale succession process.

The FRFMC expressed confidence that the state government would take the appropriate decision at the appropriate time in the interest of peace, unity and the orderly conclusion of the succession process.

The committee’s latest statement comes amid heightened public interest in the succession process and growing calls for the various interests within the royal family to maintain unity and allow the established process to run its course.
