Political activities are gathering pace in Odogbolu State Constituency as leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) intensify consultations ahead of the 2027 Ogun State House of Assembly election, with growing attention on the aspiration of Dennis Akinwale Ogunnaike.
The renewed political engagement follows a strategic outreach by Ogunnaike, who paid a courtesy visit to party elders and stakeholders in Odogbolu to formally declare his intention to contest and seek their support.
The consultations form part of broader efforts by APC leaders to strengthen internal cohesion, promote unity, and position the party for a successful outing in the forthcoming elections.
Discussions across communities including Odogbolu, Aiyepe, Omu, Ibido-Ogbo, Ibefun, Mobalufon, Okun, Ijagun, Erinlu, Imodi and Imosan have increasingly focused on leadership quality, accessibility, and equitable representation.
Prominent party figures at the meeting included Baba Kalejaiye, a member of the Governor’s Advisory Council; Alhaji Idris Lawal, Secretary of the Odogbolu Leaders and Elders Forum; Chief Ganiu Odunlami, former APC Chairman in the area; and Alhaji S.A. Saliu, a key zonal leader, among others.
Also present were the Executive Chairman of Odogbolu Local Government, Hon. Dr. Babatunde Diya, alongside former lawmaker Hon. Adebowale Ojuri and several ward leaders and party executives.

Addressing stakeholders, Ogunnaike highlighted his academic, professional, and political background, while outlining key interventions he has facilitated within the constituency.
He cited employment opportunities for over 100 residents, distribution of educational materials, renovation of schools, installation of a solar-powered borehole in Erinlu, and upgrades to healthcare facilities in Ifesowapo as part of his contributions.
According to him, his ambition is anchored on equitable development across the constituency’s 15 wards, expansion of youth and women empowerment programmes, and strengthening agricultural value chains.
He also emphasised plans to leverage opportunities around the Gateway Agro-Cargo International Airport and the Industrial Platform Remo to drive economic growth and job creation.
Ogunnaike reaffirmed his commitment to aligning with the development blueprint of Dapo Abiodun, stressing the need for inclusive governance and sustainable policies that directly impact grassroots communities.
In their remarks, party elders commended Ogunnaike for consulting widely and respecting party structures, noting that such engagement strengthens internal democracy.
While acknowledging his contributions to party activities, including support for the renovation of the APC Secretariat in Odogbolu, leaders maintained that candidate selection would follow established procedures guided by fairness and equity.
Stakeholders, including community members and youth leaders, called for unity within the constituency and encouraged inclusive participation in the political process.
Beyond party structures, artisan groups, transport unions, and Community Development Associations have also commenced internal consultations, with many advocating consensus-building to enhance APC’s electoral chances.
Although no formal endorsement has been made, observers note that the ongoing consultations reflect early alignment efforts within the constituency.
Political analysts say Ogunnaike’s outreach strategy underscores a focus on grassroots development, participatory governance, and economic empowerment, positioning his campaign around long-term socio-economic growth and responsive legislative representation.
