Members of the Association of Mass Communication Students AMACOS Class of ’95 from Moshood Abiola Polytechnic have donated N1.02 million to St. John’s Primary School in Agbena, Abeokuta, as part of a community-focused corporate social responsibility initiative aimed at supporting basic education.

The donation was made to improve learning conditions for pupils at the school, whom members described as the “leaders of tomorrow.”

The intervention forms part of activities marking the 30th post-graduation anniversary of the AMACOS ’95 set, celebrated in October 2025.

Earlier during the anniversary programme, members of the alumni association visited the school and donated educational materials — including school bags and books — valued at over N500,000.

However, after observing the difficult conditions faced by many pupils at the school, the alumni group, led by its president Percy Ademokun, pledged additional support by providing school uniforms and pairs of sandals for each pupil.

The newly released N1.02 million was raised through voluntary pledges from individual members and chapters of the alumni association to fund the uniform and footwear project for the children.

Receiving the donation, the Headmistress of St. John’s Primary School, Sobowale Omotunde Folake, commended the association for what she described as a compassionate gesture toward improving the educational experience of the pupils.

She assured the donors that the funds would be used responsibly, emphasising the importance of investing in children’s development.
“Children are like flowers that must be nurtured to blossom,” she said.

Beyond the intervention at the primary school, the AMACOS ’95 alumni also extended their corporate social responsibility projects to their alma mater, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, where they upgraded facilities within the Mass Communication Department.

The alumni association refurbished the department’s broadcast studio and newsroom, equipping them with modern broadcast tools to enhance practical training for students.

Additional improvements carried out by the group include the installation of a solar power system to ensure steady electricity supply, provision of a multimedia projector for lectures and presentations, and the installation of a Wi-Fi router with internet subscription paid up until July 2026.

According to the association’s leadership, the initiatives reflect the alumni group’s commitment to supporting education and giving back to both their alma mater and the wider community.

Members said the projects were designed to strengthen learning opportunities while encouraging a culture of service and community impact among graduates.
