“This commissioning reflects our sustained commitment to expanding quality road infrastructure across Ogun State.” — Dapo Abiodun.
Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, on Tuesday commissioned the Laderin–Prof. Wole Soyinka Train Station Road in Abeokuta, while announcing plans to inaugurate 20 additional roads across the state as part of activities marking Ogun State’s 50th anniversary.
The governor said the commissioning underscores his administration’s resolve to continuously expand and upgrade road infrastructure to support economic growth and improve the quality of life of residents.

Abiodun disclosed that work is progressing steadily on the Sagamu Interchange–Papalanto–Opele Road, a 100-kilometre highway designed to serve as a major east–west corridor. According to him, the project will provide an alternative route for motorists, reduce congestion on existing roads, and open up new corridors for commerce and investment.

Describing the Prof. Wole Soyinka Train Station as a strategic transport hub linking Ogun State to Lagos, Oyo State and the northern region, the governor noted that access roads were not originally captured in the rail project. He explained that his administration deliberately rehabilitated the Laderin road in line with its multimodal transport agenda, given the thousands of passengers who commute daily along the corridor.
Abiodun added that the train station road is part of over 1,600 kilometres of roads constructed across Ogun State, with key projects such as the Atan–Lusada–Agbara Road recording significant progress. He said the ongoing infrastructure interventions will ease movement, enhance safety, and stimulate economic activities in Abeokuta and neighbouring communities.
