The Yayi Progressives Movement (YPM) has recorded a significant expansion in Ogun State, formally admitting the leadership of the Ogun State Artisans Association of Nigeria alongside other political groups into its structure.
According to the State Media Director, Olseun Joshua the development marks a major boost for the movement, increasing its growing membership base of over 30,000 across the state and reinforcing its position as an emerging platform for inclusive political participation.
The expansion event, held on Saturday, attracted apex leaders of the movement, state executives, local government and ward coordinators, as well as representatives of newly admitted groups.
Welcoming the new entrants, the Convener, Armstrong Tope Akintunde, described the movement as an open and inclusive platform capable of accommodating individuals and groups across political divides.

He noted that the movement remains committed to further expansion ahead of its planned inauguration.
“As the movement continues to grow, it provides a unique avenue for meaningful engagement, leadership development, and collective action toward sustainable progress,” he said.
Akintunde urged members to intensify grassroots mobilisation, encouraging more residents across Ogun State to join what he described as a “moving train” driven by unity and development.
He also commended the leadership structure of the movement for its commitment and resilience, describing the latest expansion as a milestone achievement.
“What we are witnessing today is another milestone—bringing together people from different political backgrounds into one united front,” he added.
As part of efforts to reposition the movement, Akintunde announced the appointment of Akeem Akilo as the new Public Relations Officer, citing his role in fostering unity within the organisation.
In his remarks, Kehinde Odeneye, a former member of the House of Representatives and Board Chairman of the artisans’ association, praised the convener for building a strong political structure.
He noted that the movement continues to attract youths, students, and artisans, aligning with the governorship ambition of Solomon Adeola in Ogun State.
According to him, artisans across the state are ready to mobilise in support of the movement’s objectives.
“This movement is built on purpose and direction and is fast becoming one of the most formidable political forces in Ogun State,” he stated.
Strategic Alignment Across Stakeholders
Also speaking, the State Coordinator of YPM, Olusegun Kaka, described the gathering as a strategic convergence of like-minded groups working toward a shared vision.
Similarly, the State Coordinator for Artisans, Anthony Ayodele, emphasised the inclusive nature of the movement, noting that its strength lies in unity and openness.
Observers say the continued expansion of the Yayi Progressives Movement signals growing political realignment in Ogun State ahead of future electoral contests, with increasing grassroots participation and coalition-building among diverse interest groups.
