Tinubu Declares War on Insecurity, Vows to Hunt Down Enemies of the Nigerian State

At the memorial of Prince Abubakar Audu in Lokoja, President Tinubu reaffirms his government’s renewed security strategy, expansion of security forces, State Police reforms, and nationwide economic transformation agenda.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to confront and defeat all enemies of the Nigerian state, declaring that the restoration of peace and protection of citizens remain top national priorities.

Tinubu’s message, delivered on Sunday in Lokoja during the memorial of former Kogi State Governor Prince Abubakar Audu, was conveyed by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, through a statement issued by his media aide, Rabiu Ibrahim.

The President acknowledged recent security setbacks but stressed that these challenges would not derail the government’s commitment to safeguarding Nigerians.
“Let me be unequivocal: the security and welfare of every Nigerian remain the sacred priority of my government. We have therefore taken decisive action,” he said.

Tinubu emphasized that the State of Emergency on national security declared by his administration is not symbolic, but a firm commitment to expanding security manpower, modernizing intelligence systems, and strengthening military capacity. He said the government is already scaling up weapons procurement, intelligence upgrades, and personnel expansion across all security agencies.

“This is not a mere proclamation; it is a declaration of war against all forms of insecurity,” he stated. “We will hunt the enemies of our state wherever they may be and restore peace to every Nigerian community.”

He also reaffirmed the administration’s push for the establishment of State Police, describing it as a bold, necessary constitutional reform that will provide community-sensitive security solutions and create jobs at the grassroots.

Beyond security, Tinubu said his government is intensifying diplomatic efforts to counter false narratives abroad that misrepresent Nigeria’s religious harmony and peaceful coexistence.

Reflecting on the legacy of the late Prince Abubakar Audu, the President described him as a towering figure in Nigeria’s democratic history. He praised Audu’s role in shaping modern Kogi State and his contributions to the nation’s return to civilian rule.
“Prince Audu was not just a politician; he was a pathfinder… a pioneer whose vision strengthened our democratic foundation,” he said.

Tinubu noted that his administration is also undertaking sweeping reforms in key economic sectors. This includes a new initiative to modernize Nigeria’s livestock industry—developing large-scale ranching schemes, improving animal husbandry, and integrating the livestock value chain into the national economy. He said the goal is to transform a historically contentious sector into a driver of prosperity, food security, and peaceful coexistence.

The President highlighted ongoing expansions in social investment, SME support, youth empowerment, and national infrastructure—from upgraded roads and railways to improved power networks.
“We are building the arteries that will connect our markets, power our industries, and unite our people,” he said, adding that the developmental foundation laid by Prince Audu in Kogi State will be replicated across the country.
