The Oyo State Government has declared a 16-hour curfew across 10 local government areas bordering the Old Oyo National Park, as part of urgent measures aimed at addressing emerging security concerns and safeguarding lives and property in the affected communities.
Governor Seyi Makinde approved the curfew, which takes effect from Wednesday, June 24, 2026, following security assessments and consultations with relevant agencies on developments around the Old Oyo National Park axis.
According to a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde, the curfew will run daily from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. and will remain in force for an initial period of 48 hours, subject to further review based on the prevailing security situation.

The affected local government areas include Oriire, Oorelope, Irepo, Saki West, Saki East, Atisbo, Itesiwaju, Iseyin, Olorunsogo and Atiba Local Government Areas, all located within the strategic corridor adjoining the Old Oyo National Park.
Government sources said the temporary restriction is intended to strengthen security operations, support law enforcement activities and prevent any potential threats capable of disrupting peace and public order within the affected areas.
Residents have been urged to comply fully with the directive and cooperate with security agencies throughout the duration of the curfew. Essential service providers and security personnel are expected to continue carrying out their duties in line with established guidelines.
The declaration underscores the Makinde administration’s commitment to protecting citizens and maintaining stability across the state, particularly in areas considered vulnerable to security challenges.
Authorities assured residents that the situation is being closely monitored and that further updates will be provided as necessary.
