…Says Gateway International Airport Will Transform Ogun’s Economy
The Convener of the Omoluwabi Political Movement, Armstrong ‘Tope Akintunde, has congratulated the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, on the historic milestone achieved with the completion of the Ogun Gateway International Airport and the successful takeoff of its first commercial flight.
Speaking with journalists on Tuesday, Akintunde described the airport project as a transformational infrastructure that will accelerate economic growth in Remoland and drive sustainable development across Ogun State.
He lauded Governor Abiodun for his visionary leadership and commitment to progress, describing him as “a true son of the soil who has revived the pride of Ogun State through purposeful governance and people-focused projects.”
“The Gateway International Airport is more than just an aviation project — it’s a symbol of Ogun’s rebirth,” Akintunde said. “Residents and investors will now enjoy convenient air travel without having to depend on Lagos. This is a bold step toward true economic independence for our state.”
Akintunde commended the governor’s unwavering dedication to his administration’s Igbega Ipinle Ogun (Building Our Future Together) agenda, noting that the numerous infrastructure projects under his leadership have repositioned the state as a major investment hub in Nigeria.
“From the moment Governor Abiodun assumed office in 2019, I was confident we would witness meaningful transformation. The Gateway International Airport is living proof of his resolve to elevate Ogun State far beyond what he inherited,” he added.
Reflecting on his group’s political evolution, Akintunde recalled that his movement—formerly known as DACA—played a strong role in mobilizing grassroots support for the governor’s re-election before evolving into the Omoluwabi Political Movement.
“Governor Abiodun embodies the true Omoluwabi spirit — integrity, diligence, and selfless service,” he said. “These values define our movement and continue to guide our political engagements.”
Akintunde also appreciated ValueJet, the Nigeria Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), and the people of Ogun State for their support in realizing the long-envisioned project.
Speaking further, he affirmed the growing influence of the Omoluwabi Political Movement, describing it as “stronger than ever” with a solid structure and expanding membership across Ogun’s senatorial districts.
“Politics evolves through stages and movements. The Omoluwabi Political Movement is dynamic, people-centered, and committed to the continuous progress of Ogun State,” Akintunde declared.
