Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring the welfare and smooth operations of intending pilgrims from the state. He gave the assurance while receiving a delegation from the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), led by the Commissioner representing the Southwest, Dr. Tajudeen Oladejo Abefe, during a courtesy and sensitization visit at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
Represented by the Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, Governor Abiodun stated that the well-being of Ogun State pilgrims remains a top priority, noting that successful Hajj operations depend on the comfort, safety, and preparedness of those making the spiritual journey. He pledged that the concerns raised by the Commission would be carefully reviewed and addressed, with the state continuing to provide high-quality services for pilgrims in Saudi Arabia.
Earlier, Dr. Oladejo commended the state government for its consistent and exceptional support for Hajj activities over the years. He highlighted Ogun’s efforts, including the payment differential on pilgrims’ Basic Travel Allowance for two consecutive years, full operational funding approvals, efficient transportation arrangements in Mecca and Medina, and the appointment of capable board members to effectively manage the State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board.
The NAHCON Commissioner also informed the state that Saudi authorities have set December 5, 2025, as the payment deadline for the 2026 Hajj, urging intending pilgrims to complete their payments early to secure their slots. He expressed confidence that Ogun State would continue to address emerging challenges and implement workable solutions ahead of the upcoming Hajj exercise.
The Executive Secretary of the Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board assured that all relevant information would be promptly communicated to intending pilgrims to help them meet the required timelines.
