Family thanks God for mercies, prays for a better 2026, as CAN leaders, royals and dignitaries grace Day Four of Ijebu-Ode Adura Odun
The Balogun family has reiterated its resolve to sustain the legacy of the late Otunba Dr. Subomi Balogun, Asiwaju Onigbagbo of Akile Ijebu-Ode, during the Day Four of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ijebu-Ode Adura Odun prayer programme held at the family residence, Tunwase Court.
Speaking on behalf of the family, the second son of the late philanthropist expressed deep gratitude to God for His mercies and blessings, noting that the family had every reason to be thankful.
“We thank God for seeing us through 2025. As a family, we have so much to be grateful for. Without going into specifics, His blessings have been bountiful, and we will continue to build on the legacy our father left behind,” he said.
He prayed that 2026 would be better than 2025 for the family and all in attendance, asking God for protection,
guidance, good health, peace of mind, and prosperity. He also offered prayers for Ijebu land and Nigeria, seeking divine peace and progress for the nation.
He appreciated the CAN community, uncles, aunties, and well-wishers for their continued support, explaining that the family has hosted the CAN Ijebu-Ode community for over 26 years, a tradition established by their late father and sustained after his demise.
According to him, the annual Adura Odun is not merely celebratory but a moment of reflection and collective prayer to usher in the new year, bringing family members together from different parts of the world while strengthening community bonds.
Responding to questions from journalists, he disclosed that the family runs a foundation through which they consistently support the CAN community, not only during Adura Odun but throughout the year.
In his remarks, the Chairman of CAN, Ijebu-Ode Local Government Chapter, Revd. Dr. Dele Taiwo, appreciated the
Balogun family for their unwavering hospitality, noting that CAN has never regretted its association with the family since the passing of their patriarch. He prayed that the legacies and companies left behind by Otunba Subomi Balogun
would continue to flourish.
Revd. Taiwo also acknowledged Chief Funlola Okunowo, the Asiwaju Onigbagbo, praying for continued grace and strength upon her; the Regent of Awujale, Ogbeni Oja Sonny Kuku, for hosting CAN the previous day; Senator Gbenga
Daniel for his efforts toward state creation; royal fathers present; the Special Adviser to the Governor, Chief Okuboyejo; Chief Barr. Jimilehin; CAN and CCN elders; and all clergy in attendance, wishing everyone a happy and prosperous New Year.
