The Chief Whip of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Bakare Omolola Olanrewaju, has addressed recent political developments surrounding her second-term ambition, reaffirming her loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC) while acknowledging that her political alignment became a source of concern within certain quarters of the party.
In a press statement released on Friday, the lawmaker expressed gratitude to party leaders, stakeholders, traditional leaders, religious figures, and constituents for their support throughout her political journey.
She specifically appreciated members of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), led by Chief O.B. Okuboyejo, alongside market leaders, clerics, and APC stakeholders in Ijebuland for what she described as their commitment to unity and discipline within the party.
Bakare stated that her support for Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, became a major issue during consultations surrounding her bid to return to the Assembly.
According to her, the divergence in political alignment contributed to Governor Dapo Abiodun withdrawing support for her second-term aspiration.
“In the course of political engagements and consultations, my support for Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola became a subject of concern within certain quarters,” she stated.
She added that although the outcome was not what she anticipated, she remained committed to the party and its progressive ideals.
The lawmaker maintained that she had no regrets supporting Senator Adeola, insisting that her actions were guided by conviction and political belief.
She also rejected what she described as attempts in some quarters to misrepresent her actions and personality” she said.

Bakare stressed that politics naturally involves alignments, negotiations, and difficult decisions made in the interest of party strategy and unity.
Despite the political setback, the lawmaker urged her supporters to remain calm and continue participating in the democratic process peacefully.
She emphasized that the broader objective remains service to the people and the strengthening of democratic institutions.
Bakare also expressed appreciation to those who supported her during her first term and throughout her re-election consultations.
“I hold no bitterness, only gratitude for the opportunity to serve and aspire,” she added.
The lawmaker concluded with prayers for her supporters and a call for continued unity and progress within the party and the constituency.
