History was recorded in Ijebu-Ode on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, as members of the APC Progressive Support Group (APSG) gathered at Okenla Chambers to publicly declare their support for the second-term bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The event brought together stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who reaffirmed their loyalty and readiness to mobilise support for the President under the “Asiwaju Tinubu Lee’kansi” campaign.

During the gathering, the national leadership of APSG issued Certificates of Endorsement to coordinators of the group across Ogun State, signalling a coordinated grassroots mobilisation drive in the state.

A major highlight of the event was the recognition of Hon. Barr. Dele Okenla, who was honoured as the Patron of the Asiwaju Progressive Support Group, Ogun State Chapter.

In his remarks, Okenla expressed appreciation to elder statesmen and party leaders who attended the programme to show solidarity with the President. He also used the occasion to formally make known his intention to contest the House of Representatives seat to represent the Ijebu Federal Constituency in the 2027 elections.

According to him, his aspiration is driven by a commitment to serve the people of Ijebuland with dedication and experience.
“My aspiration to serve my people is not based on selfish ambition but on a genuine desire to deploy my knowledge and experience for the progress of Ijebuland,” he said.

The event was attended by several notable progressive leaders, including Hon. Eshinlokun Matti, APC Youth Leader for the South-West; Hon. Rasak Daddah, Special Adviser to the Ogun State Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs; Hon. Bukky Araba, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Women Affairs; Otunba Yeye Modupe Okenla; Prince Fetuga, among others.

Observers at the gathering described the meeting as a strong signal of early political alignment and mobilisation within the party structure in Ogun State as preparations gradually build toward the 2027 elections.
The event was organised by supporters and political associates of Hon. Dele Okenla under the Dele Okenla Media Team.
