APC Dismisses Factional Claims, Insists Ogun Chapter Remains United

Party spokesperson says “camp politics” narrative misrepresents internal consultations as 2026 political activities intensify

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State has rejected claims of internal division, maintaining that the party remains a cohesive and structured political organisation despite growing public narratives around factional politics.

Speaking on a current affairs programme, Frontline, on Eagle 102.5 FM in Ilese-Ijebu, the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Olufemi Nuberu, said what is often described as “camps” or “caucuses” is largely a misunderstanding of routine political consultations among stakeholders.

According to him, the APC operates a clearly defined structure from the ward to the state level, with recognised leadership across all tiers, leaving no room for parallel authority.

“There is no caucus in APC in the way it is being portrayed. What we have is one party, one structure, and one leadership. When the party speaks through its organs, it is binding on all members,” he said.

Controversy Around Ijebu-Ode Meeting
Recent political discussions in Ogun State have been dominated by reports of emerging divisions within the APC, particularly in Ogun East Senatorial District.

The narratives gained traction following a stakeholders’ meeting at Adeola Odutola Hall in Ijebu-Ode, where allegations surfaced that some party leaders were excluded.

Among those mentioned in public discourse is former governor and current senator, Gbenga Daniel, whose reported experience at the meeting sparked debate over inclusivity and internal democracy.

However, Nuberu dismissed the claims as unverified and driven largely by social media speculation.

“As far as the party is concerned, no formal complaint has been received indicating that any member was denied access to a meeting. Decisions cannot be based on hearsay,” he stated.

Addressing concerns about perceived dominance by certain political figures, Nuberu acknowledged that influence is a natural part of party politics but does not equate to division.

He explained that while individuals may align with particular leaders, all actions remain subject to the party’s constitutional framework.

“Influence exists in every political system, but it must operate within established structures. What we do not have is a situation where different groups are running parallel systems,” he said.

On the issue of suspensions within the party, Nuberu clarified that no final decisions have been taken regarding affected members, noting that the national leadership has directed that status quo be maintained.

He described the situation as a “suspended suspension,” stressing that due process must be followed before any definitive action is taken.

“Suspension does not automatically translate to expulsion. These matters are being handled carefully to ensure fairness within the party system,” he added.

The APC spokesperson urged members and the public to rely on verified information rather than speculation, warning that misinformation could distort the true state of affairs within the party.

As political activities ahead of the 2026 elections continue to intensify, the party insists its internal mechanisms remain stable and capable of managing disagreements without descending into crisis.

Nuberu reaffirmed that the APC in Ogun State remains “one indivisible entity,” committed to unity, discipline, and constitutional order.
