Governor Dapo Abiodun has provided a fresh update on his administration’s partnership with the World Bank Group, reaffirming that over ₦5 billion has so far been invested in women-focused empowerment and livelihood initiatives across Ogun State in the last six years.
The Governor noted that flagship programmes such as the Nigeria for Women Project and the state’s Oko’Owo Dapo scheme continue to expand financial inclusion, strengthen leadership capacity, and create economic opportunities for women at the grassroots.
According to him, about 55,000 women have directly benefited, leading to improved household resilience and inclusive economic growth across communities.
He also highlighted recent progress recorded under other World Bank–assisted interventions.
Through OGCARES, households and local food systems have sustained recovery from the economic disruptions caused by COVID-19, while OGSTEP is delivering measurable gains in skills development, agricultural productivity, and modernised land administration systems.
Governor Abiodun disclosed that the state has further accelerated the issuance of Certificates of Occupancy to property owners, while ongoing works under the
Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) have seen about 209 kilometres of rural roads undergoing upgrade to improve farm-to-market connectivity and boost productivity in agrarian communities.
Providing updates on the power sector, the Governor revealed that Ogun State is nearing the commissioning of its Electricity Distribution Company as part of comprehensive electricity reforms.
With the Ogun State Electricity Board now operational, several Independent Power Projects advancing, and mini-grid deployment plans underway, he said the state is consolidating efforts to improve electricity supply, stimulate industrial growth, and deepen economic transformation.
