The Yayi Progressives Movement (YPM) has announced plans for its official inauguration scheduled for Sunday, May 3, 2026, at the historic Ake Palace in Abeokuta.
The event is expected to mark a major milestone in the group’s expanding grassroots mobilisation drive across Ogun State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The announcement was made by the Director of State Media, Oluseun Joshua Oduneye, on behalf of the Movement’s Convener, Armstrong Tope Akintunde.

According to the organisers, the inauguration represents a strategic effort to consolidate the movement’s political structure and deepen its influence at community and ward levels across the state.
In recent months, the YPM has intensified grassroots engagement through coordinated mobilisation activities aimed at promoting political awareness, participation, and unity among supporters.
At the centre of the Movement’s agenda is support for the governorship ambition of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, ahead of the 2027 Ogun governorship election.
The group is also mobilising support for the anticipated second-term bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, while backing Governor Dapo Abiodun’s senatorial aspiration in Ogun East.
Observers say the Movement’s growing visibility reflects increasing political alignment within sections of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State.
Speaking ahead of the inauguration, the State Coordinator of the Movement, Olusegun Kaka, said the event is expected to attract political stakeholders, grassroots mobilisers, youth groups, and party supporters from across Ogun State.
He described the gathering as an opportunity to further position the YPM as a significant grassroots political platform committed to progressive leadership and sustained political engagement.
The Movement reiterated its commitment to serving as a unifying platform dedicated to mobilisation, continuity in governance, and inclusive development.
Organisers say the inauguration will also outline the group’s strategic direction ahead of the next electoral cycle as preparations intensify across the state’s political landscape.
