Gbajabiamila Distributes Learning Materials to 8,000 Students in Lagos Schools

Education support took centre stage in Surulere, Lagos, as the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, facilitated the distribution of thousands of learning materials to students across public secondary schools in the area.

The intervention, which reached about 8,000 students from 23 secondary schools, saw beneficiaries receive textbooks, school bags, exercise books and mathematical sets aimed at improving learning outcomes and easing the financial burden on parents.

The initiative took place in Lagos, specifically within Surulere, where the former Speaker of the House of Representatives has maintained a long-standing educational support programme for students and schools.

Gbajabiamila, who was represented at the event by the member representing Surulere Federal Constituency I in the House of Representatives, Fouad Laguda, described education as the foundation of sustainable development and urged individuals and organisations to contribute to improving the sector.

According to him, government alone cannot meet all the needs of the education system, stressing that collaborative efforts from stakeholders are essential to reposition schools and enhance the academic future of young Nigerians.

He explained that the distribution forms part of ongoing interventions he has carried out in Surulere both during his tenure as Speaker and in his current role as Chief of Staff to the President. The programme, he noted, is designed to motivate students, reduce learning barriers and encourage academic excellence.

Some of the beneficiary schools included Ajigbeda Secondary School, Stadium High School, Surulere Girls High School, Akintan Secondary School, Gbaja Girls Secondary School and New Era Girls Secondary School, among others across the local government area.

Community leaders and education stakeholders who attended the programme commended the initiative, describing it as a timely intervention capable of strengthening the quality of learning in public schools.

The Vice-Chairman of Surulere Local Government, Muiz Dosunmu, praised Gbajabiamila for what he described as consistent contributions to the development of education and the welfare of residents in the constituency.
School authorities also welcomed the gesture.

A school principal who spokeGbajabiamila Distributes Learning Materials to 8,000 Students in Lagos Schoolsmaterials as an investment in the future of the students and the country, noting that such interventions could inspire better academic performance.

Students who benefited from the programme expressed appreciation, promising to make good use of the materials in their studies and examinations.

Gbajabiamila also encouraged the students to remain focused on their education, stressing that investments in knowledge remain one of the most powerful tools for personal and national development.

The distribution comes amid increasing calls for stronger collaboration between government, communities and private stakeholders to strengthen Nigeria’s education sector and improve access to quality learning resources for students.
