The Omoluabi Movement, a prominent political and sociocultural group in Ogun State, has congratulated the people of Iperu and Governor Dapo Abiodun on the successful hosting of the 2025 Akesan Day celebrations.
The colourful festival—an age-long cultural heritage of Iperu, the hometown of Governor Abiodun—held at the Apollo Ground and attracted a large gathering of dignitaries, residents, and cultural enthusiasts.
In a statement signed by the Director of Media and Publicity, Oluseun Joshua, and issued under the supervision of the group’s coordinator, Hon. Olusegun Kaka, the movement described Akesan Day as a unifying celebration that has grown into a global event, drawing prominent personalities from Nigeria and abroad.
Convener of the movement, Armstrong ’Tope Akintunde, praised Governor Abiodun as a proud son of Iperu whose leadership continues to elevate the cultural identity and visibility of the town within Remoland and across Ogun State.
“Our annual Akesan Day celebration has now attained international recognition,” Akintunde said. “I sincerely commend our Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for his unwavering support. What we witness today is the result of collective effort and the exceptional leadership of our tireless political icon and governor.”
Akintunde further described Governor Abiodun’s political philosophy as a model of reform and renewal, driven by a commitment to transformational governance and human-capital development.
Speaking on the role of the Omoluabi Movement, the convener noted that the initiative is more than a political structure but a call for responsible leadership, civic engagement, and value-driven governance.
“As Ogun State continues to evolve under the visionary leadership of Prince Dapo Abiodun, our movement will remain vital in shaping the future—anchoring politics not on self-interest but on service, values, and the collective good,” he stated.
Akintunde also commended the dedication of Hon. Olusegun Kaka and other coordinators across the state for their tireless efforts in strengthening the movement.
This year’s Akesan Day celebration featured a vibrant gathering of political leaders, community elders, youths, chiefs, and Otunbas—all celebrating under the leadership and support of Governor Abiodun.
