The Ogun State Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, has urged Christian workers to remain firmly connected to Christ, the Head of the Church, in the discharge of their duties, warning against complacency in their service to God and humanity.
Speaking at the opening session of the South West Conference of the Fellowship of Christian Workers International, hosted by the Ogun State chapter at the Government House Chapel, Oke-Igbehin, Abeokuta, Onasanya emphasized that staying connected to Christ ensures relevance, productivity, and excellence in all spheres of service.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Service Matters, Mr. Oladipupo Ogunfowora, the Head of Service reminded Christian workers to continually seek Christ’s direction in their assignments. He noted that “workers are the engine room of government,” adding that true success and impactful service can only be achieved with divine guidance.
“Every service rendered to humanity should be seen as service to God because man was created in His image. The best of our efforts should therefore be dedicated to Him,” Onasanya said.
He also commended the Ogun State Government for creating an enabling environment for civil and public servants to thrive and render meaningful service to citizens.
Delivering the conference message on the theme “Mind the Head,” the Lead Pastor of Grace Baptist Church, Asero Estate, Abeokuta, Reverend Dr. Adewale Ajayi, urged Christian workers to reflect Christ in their words, actions, and decisions. He likened the Church to a body that must take direction from its Head, Christ, to function effectively.
Rev. Ajayi noted that man was created in God’s image for fellowship, warning that sin breaks that fellowship and leads to the loss of divine glory.
In their goodwill messages, the National Coordinator, Evangelist Israel Adeyanju, and the South West Zonal Coordinator, Reverend Caleb Anota, called on Christian workers to remain steadfast in their faith and professional conduct. They charged them not to compromise their beliefs in the workplace but to uphold Christian values wherever they serve.
The Ogun State Coordinator of the Fellowship and Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Public Service Reform, Mr. Jola Oyeneye, expressed appreciation to Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun for fostering peace and providing a conducive work environment. He added that serving the government faithfully equates to serving God diligently.
Delegates from Oyo, Osun, Ondo, and Ekiti States joined their Ogun counterparts at the conference, which also had several serving and retired Permanent Secretaries in attendance. Prayers were offered for the peace and progress of Ogun State and Nigeria.
