2027: Yayi, Abiodun Rally Ogun-East, Target 2 Million Votes for Tinubu

Caucus 7202 mobilises 180,000-member structure as APC sets ambitious targets ahead of 2027 elections

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State has intensified its mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections, as Caucus 7202 staged a mega rally in Ogun-East and declared its support for the governorship ambition of Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, and the senatorial bid of Governor Dapo Abiodun.

The rally, held on Thursday at the Dipo Dina International Stadium, Ijebu-Ode, also became a platform for the endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term and the candidacies of APC candidates across Ogun State.

At the event, the APC leadership and its support groups announced an ambitious target of two million votes for President Tinubu in Ogun State, while Caucus 7202 separately pledged to mobilise 400,000 votes for the party in the 2027 general elections.

The rally attracted prominent APC figures, including the lawmaker representing Ijebu Central Federal Constituency, Hon. Femi Ogunbanwo; Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Oludaisi Elemide; Secretary to the Ogun State Government, Tokunbo Talabi; Ogun APC Deputy Governorship Candidate, Kudirat Adegunwa-Balogun; and Commissioner for Finance, Dapo Okubadejo.

Speaking to the crowd, Senator Adeola said President Tinubu had, in his assessment, performed better than previous presidents and deserved another term in office.

He pointed to major federal infrastructure projects in Ogun as part of the reasons for his support for the President, citing the ongoing Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway, which is expected to pass through Imeko-Afon Local Government Area, and the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, which will pass through Ogun Waterside.

Adeola expressed satisfaction with the turnout at the rally and urged APC supporters to translate their presence at the event into votes during the elections.

He also rejected speculation about a tactical voting arrangement involving APC and another political party, urging party members to vote for APC candidates across the different electoral contests.

Governor Abiodun, who is the APC candidate for Ogun East Senatorial District, reinforced the party’s two-million-vote target for President Tinubu, saying the combination of APC’s organisational structure and the mobilisation strength of groups such as Caucus 7202 would give the party an advantage in the 2027 elections.

Abiodun also spoke favourably about Adeola’s political credentials, describing the governorship candidate as a politician with “political experience and sagacity” and someone capable of managing both resources and people.

He expressed confidence that Adeola, if elected governor, would sustain the direction of the state government and complete inherited projects and programmes.

The governor also described his succession plan as a landmark in Ogun’s political history, saying he was the first governor in the state to successfully chart a succession plan for his political party.

He said the emergence of Adeola as the party’s governorship candidate would promote economic stability and advance the interests of ordinary residents.

The APC State Chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi, charged party members and support groups to expand their mobilisation efforts across communities, wards and local government areas.

Sanusi cautioned members against complacency, stressing that the party’s dominance in the state should not lead to a relaxation of its campaign and grassroots activities ahead of the elections.

He set a separate target of at least 80 per cent of the presidential votes in Ogun State for President Tinubu.

The Director-General of Caucus 7202, Hon. Olaseni Koiki, commended Governor Abiodun for his administration of Ogun State over the past seven years.

Koiki recalled that Caucus 7202 was the first political group to call on Abiodun to seek election to the Senate in 2025, saying the group was pleased that he eventually accepted the call.

According to him, Caucus 7202 has about 180,000 members and would deploy its structures towards securing victory for APC candidates in the 2027 elections.

He announced that the group was targeting 400,000 votes for the APC during the general elections.

The rally also drew former Ogun deputy governors Senator Adegbenga Sefiu Kaka and Chief Yetunde Onanuga; former Ogun East Senatorial District lawmaker, Senator Lekan Mustapha; former Deputy Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Tola Banjo; APC House of Representatives candidate for Ijebu Central Federal Constituency, Hon. Rasaq Daddah; and members of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Lukman Adeleye and Hon. Bakare Omolola, among other party leaders and dignitaries.

The event effectively turned Ogun-East into a major mobilisation theatre for the APC, with the party seeking to consolidate its political structure ahead of the 2027 elections and convert its organisational reach and support-group networks into electoral gains.
