YPM Convener Akintunde Leads Massive Solidarity Walk for Yayi After APC Governorship Primary Victory

Group Congratulates Governor Abiodun, Olusegun Kaka and Other APC Candidates, Pledges Grassroots Mobilisation Ahead of 2027

The Convener of the Yayi Progressives Movement (YPM), Armstrong ‘Tope Akintunde, on Thursday led thousands of supporters and party loyalists on a solidarity and acceptance walk in honour of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, following his emergence as the consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 governorship election in Ogun State.

The procession, which drew supporters from different parts of the state, was organised to celebrate Senator Adeola’s emergence at the APC governorship primary and to reaffirm the movement’s support for his candidacy ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The mobilisation walk, held in Abeokuta, also became a platform for the group to congratulate Governor Dapo Abiodun on his emergence as the APC senatorial candidate for Ogun East Senatorial District.

Akintunde further felicitated the YPM State Coordinator, Hon. Olusegun Odunuga Kaka, for securing the APC ticket for Ifelodun Constituency II in Ijebu North Local Government Area.

The YPM Convener equally congratulated other APC candidates who emerged victorious during the Senate, House of Representatives and Ogun State House of Assembly primaries conducted across the state.

According to him, the victories recorded by APC candidates reflected the confidence and support reposed in them by party members and stakeholders across Ogun State.

Speaking during the solidarity walk, Akintunde commended the leadership of the APC in Ogun State for what he described as a peaceful, well-organised and successful primary election process.

He maintained that the Yayi Progressives Movement remained committed to grassroots mobilisation and political engagement aimed at ensuring victory for all APC candidates during the 2027 general elections.

Akintunde noted that the movement had continued to evolve into one of the influential grassroots political support structures within Ogun State through consistent mobilisation, community engagement and support for progressive politics.

According to him, YPM remains committed to promoting party unity, progressive leadership and sustainable development for Ogun State and Nigeria as a whole.

“I am here today with thousands of our members despite the short notice. Although only a few of our members could make it here physically, we all witnessed what happened during the recent inauguration at Ake Palace. We mobilised those available to participate in today’s exercise,” he said.

“I am glad that we are part of history today as our principal, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi, has emerged as the governorship flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State ahead of the 2027 general elections.”

Akintunde also congratulated Governor Dapo Abiodun on his emergence as the APC flag bearer for Ogun East Senatorial District, describing the development as a source of pride and joy.

“It is my pleasure to congratulate our leader and Governor of Ogun State, who recently emerged as the APC flag bearer for Ogun East Senatorial District. This is a personal joy for me because His Excellency is an Iperu-born prince, just like myself,” he stated.

The YPM Convener further applauded Hon. Olusegun Odunuga Kaka for securing the APC ticket for Ijebu North II Constituency, describing him as a committed and dependable leader within the movement.

“I cannot end this message without congratulating our committed and reliable State Coordinator, Hon. Olusegun Odunuga Kaka, on his emergence as the party flag bearer for Ijebu North II Constituency. Hon. Kaka has truly reaped the rewards of his dedication and service, and I commend the party leadership in the constituency for recognising his efforts,” Akintunde said.

He reaffirmed the readiness of the Yayi Progressives Movement to work for the continued electoral success of the APC across Ogun State ahead of the 2027 polls.

“As a team, we are fully prepared for the task ahead. We are committed to ensuring that the All Progressives Congress retains power in Ogun State from top to bottom. I congratulate all our leaders, brothers and sisters who emerged as party flag bearers across the local governments, senatorial districts and the state. May God crown all our efforts with success,” he added.

The APC primaries in Ogun State produced candidates for governorship, Senate, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly positions as political activities gradually intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
