Chairmen of the nine local government councils in Ogun East Senatorial District have declared support for Dapo Abiodun, endorsing him as their consensus candidate for the Ogun East Senate seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement was announced during an Ogun East Caucus meeting, where the council leaders pointed to what they described as the governor’s significant infrastructural and economic development achievements across the district.

Speaking on behalf of the chairmen, Hon. Afolabi Odulate (Sagamu), Hon. Folusho Badejo (Ijebu North East), Otunba Muyiwa Sodade (Remo North), and Hon. Jamiu Ashimi (Ikenne) said the decision reflects widespread confidence in Abiodun’s leadership and future prospects.

Odulate highlighted major projects including the Ijebu-Ode Dry Port, Tongeji Oil Well, and the proposed Ogun Deep Seaport, describing them as transformative investments capable of boosting the region’s economy.
Badejo commended the administration for delivering on ambitious projects such as the state airport and critical road infrastructure, noting that many of these initiatives were previously considered unattainable.

Sodade emphasised the importance of sustaining ongoing development efforts, urging stakeholders to support continuity in governance. He added that Abiodun’s relationship with Bola Ahmed Tinubu could strengthen Ogun East’s representation at the national level.

Ashimi described the endorsement as significant for Ikenne Local Government, noting that it could produce the area’s first representative in the Ogun East Senate seat.
Also speaking, Hon. Bolaji Odusanya of Ijebu North Local Government described the governor as an Omoluabi leader with strong emotional intelligence, crediting his administration with fostering unity, stability, and development across the district.

The chairmen said their endorsement is rooted in satisfaction with Abiodun’s performance and confidence in his ability to effectively represent Ogun East at the Senate if elected in 2027.
