NUJ Ogun East Independent Chapel Celebrates Yayi at 57, Hails His Service, Leadership and Commitment to Humanity

Chapel commends Senator Adeola’s public service record, resilience and emerging role in Ogun politics

The Executive and entire members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun East Independent Chapel, have joined family, friends, political associates, leaders and well-wishers across Nigeria to celebrate Senator Olamilekan Solomon Adeola, FCA, popularly known as Yayi, on the occasion of his 57th birthday.

The Chapel described the birthday as an opportunity not only to celebrate another milestone in the life of the senator but also to recognise his years of participation in public service, legislative activities and political development.

At 57, Senator Adeola has traversed several stages of public life, building a political career that has seen him serve in legislative capacities and engage with issues relating to governance, economic development, infrastructure, human capital development and the welfare of citizens.

The NUJ Ogun East Independent Chapel noted that his emergence as the consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State has placed him at a significant point in his political career, with increased expectations from the people of the state and greater responsibilities ahead.

The Chapel said the new political responsibility requires wisdom, maturity, inclusiveness and a commitment to placing the collective interest above personal or partisan considerations.

While acknowledging that public service and political leadership come with considerable challenges, the journalists commended Senator Adeola for what they described as resilience and determination in navigating Nigeria’s political landscape.

The Chapel also noted the senator’s expression of gratitude to Almighty God in his birthday reflection, particularly his appreciation for the gift of life, grace, protection and faithfulness throughout his journey.

According to the Chapel, Adeola’s acknowledgement of his wife and children in his birthday message also highlights the important role of family in sustaining individuals who occupy demanding public positions.

The journalists observed that behind the responsibilities and pressures associated with public office are families that provide support, prayers, sacrifice and encouragement, making such recognition significant.

The Chapel further acknowledged the senator’s appreciation of elders, political leaders, associates, friends, supporters and others who have contributed to his journey, noting that public leadership is strengthened by relationships, counsel and collective participation.

For the Ogun East media community, the Chapel said the occasion also provides an opportunity to reaffirm the importance of a constructive relationship between political leaders and the media.

It stressed that the media remains an essential pillar of democracy, with journalists saddled with the responsibility of informing and educating the public while holding government and public institutions accountable.

At the same time, the Chapel said public officials have a responsibility to maintain openness, accessibility and constructive engagement with journalists and the wider public.

The NUJ Ogun East Independent Chapel therefore expressed its readiness to maintain a professional relationship with Senator Adeola as he progresses in his political career and takes on greater responsibilities.

It noted that sustained interaction between political leaders and the media could promote public enlightenment, transparency, accountability and a better understanding of government policies and programmes.

The Chapel said Adeola’s declaration that he was rededicating himself at 57 to the service of God, humanity and the people was particularly significant, stressing that such commitment would require humility, inclusiveness, fairness and sincerity of purpose.

The journalists said they were celebrating not only the politician occupying public office but also the individual behind the office — a husband, father, friend, associate, leader and public servant who has reached another significant milestone in life.

The Chapel prayed that the years ahead would provide Senator Adeola with greater opportunities to serve the people and make meaningful contributions to the development of Ogun State and Nigeria.

The Executive and entire members of the NUJ Ogun East Independent Chapel warmly congratulated Senator Olamilekan Solomon Adeola on his 57th birthday and wished him sound health, wisdom, fulfilment and continued success in his public service journey.

The Chapel also prayed for divine guidance as he assumes greater political responsibilities, asking God to grant him the wisdom to lead with fairness, compassion and a strong sense of responsibility.

Happy 57th Birthday, Distinguished Senator Olamilekan Solomon Adeola, FCA — Yayi.

May the years ahead bring greater opportunities to serve, greater accomplishments and many more reasons for the people of Ogun State and Nigeria to celebrate with you.
