The former AGF claims the ongoing probe is politically motivated and linked to his defection to the African Democratic Congress.
Former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, has called on the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukayode, to recuse himself from an ongoing investigation.
Speaking through his media aide, Muhammad Doka, on Monday, Malami accused Olukayode of bias, personal vendetta, and political persecution following his recent defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC). He alleged that the EFCC is engaging in what he described as illegal detention, media harassment, and procedural abuse.
The former AGF insisted that the investigation is not motivated by legitimate law enforcement considerations but rather by “deep-seated historical animosity” within the EFCC leadership.
“I have been clearly pre-judged and cannot receive a fair, objective or lawful investigation under the current leadership of the EFCC,” Malami stated, calling for immediate recusal to ensure impartiality.
