Residents of Ijebu-East Local Government Area of Ogun State are set to benefit from free eye screening, eyeglasses and cataract surgeries under a medical outreach initiative being organised by Hon. Dr Kehinde Ayodeji Bello, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Senior Special Assistant to Governor Dapo Abiodun.
The initiative, tagged “Jigi Bello: Mission for Vision,” is scheduled for Saturday, October 17, 2026, and is expected to reach 1,000 residents with essential eye-care services.
Under the programme, participants will receive free eye screening and eyeglasses, while elderly residents diagnosed with cataracts will be eligible for free surgery, subject to medical assessment and confirmation of appointments.
Speaking with journalists on Saturday, Bello, who also serves as General Manager of the Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency (OGEPA), said the outreach was designed to improve access to eye-care services and help residents address vision problems that might otherwise remain untreated because of financial constraints.
The programme is expected to provide an opportunity for residents to identify potential eye conditions and receive appropriate support, particularly those who may find the cost of consultations, corrective lenses and surgery difficult to afford.
The outreach will take place at the Ijebu-Imusin Muslim Community Events Centre, beside Muslim Nursery and Primary School, Ijebu-Imusin.
Residents travelling from Ijebu-Ode can access the venue through Imusin Market Junction, where they are advised to turn right and ask for Muslim Nursery and Primary School, which shares a boundary with the events centre.
Members of the public seeking further information about the programme can contact the organisers on 0803685295, 08053523240 or 08033971040.
The organisers are encouraging residents who need eye-care services to take advantage of the outreach and follow the medical team’s instructions regarding screening, eligibility and appointments for any required procedures.
