Idris Attends Lai Mohammed’s Book Presentation on Buhari-Era Media Governance

Former ministers, Buhari’s family gather as ex-Information Minister unveils account of defining media moments

The Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, on Tuesday attended the public presentation of a new book by the immediate past Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, titled Headlines & Soundbites: Media Moments That Defined an Administration.

The book offers an insider account of Lai Mohammed’s years at the helm of the information ministry, chronicling key media engagements, policy narratives and communication strategies that shaped the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

“The publication captures defining moments in government communication and the challenges of managing public perception during a transformative period,” attendees noted at the event.

The ceremony, which was well attended, attracted several former ministers who served in President Buhari’s cabinet,

reflecting the significance of the era documented in the book. Members of the former president’s immediate family were also present, adding to the high-profile nature of the occasion.

“It is a valuable contribution to Nigeria’s political communication history,” a guest said, describing the book as both reflective and instructive.

The event provided an opportunity for reflection on the role of strategic communication in governance, as well as a reunion of key actors from the Buhari administration.
