Hon. Adeleye Declares Second Term Bid, Joins APC to Consolidate Development in Odogbolu

…Defected lawmaker pledges stronger development push as APC leaders, stakeholders endorse re-election ambition

A member of the Ogun State House of Assembly representing Odogbolu State Constituency, Lukman Adeleye, has declared his intention to seek a second term in office, promising to build on his legislative achievements and deepen development across the constituency.

Adeleye made the declaration at a political gathering attended by stakeholders, community leaders, and supporters, which also marked his formal reception into the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Odogbolu Local Government Area.

Defection Signals Political Realignment
The lawmaker recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC at his Ibefun ward, alongside a large number of supporters and party leaders—a move widely interpreted as a major political shift within the constituency.

Speaking at the event, Adeleye said his decision to seek re-election was motivated by the need to consolidate ongoing projects and expand development initiatives across Odogbolu.

He expressed appreciation to Dapo Abiodun for his leadership style, which he described as inclusive and impactful.

“I believe I have garnered the necessary experience within my first term to do even more for our people,” he said.
“Service Beyond Titles”

Addressing concerns about his previous role as Minority Leader, Adeleye stressed that effective service delivery is more important than political titles.

“It is not about position; it is about the people. What is the essence of holding a position without tangible results?” he said, noting that his defection to the ruling party would enhance his capacity to attract more development.

Projecting confidence ahead of the next election cycle, Adeleye assured party members of victory, citing strong grassroots support.

“Odogbolu has become an APC stronghold, and we will win convincingly,” he stated, referencing past electoral performance in the area.

He also reaffirmed his commitment to party discipline, pledging to abide by whatever mode of primary election the APC adopts.

“Whether it is consensus or direct primary, I am ready to abide by the party’s decision,” he added.

Party leaders and stakeholders at the event welcomed Adeleye into the APC, describing his defection as a boost to the party’s strength in Odogbolu.

The APC Chairman in the local government, Muyiwa Idowu, described Adeleye as a responsive and people-oriented leader.

Similarly, the Chairman of Odogbolu Local Government, Babatunde Diya, represented by Vice Chairman Olushola Adeyinka, commended the lawmaker’s performance and urged constituents to support his re-election.

Also speaking, the Governor’s Liaison Officer in Odogbolu, Shuiab Ladejobi, expressed confidence in Adeleye’s capacity to deliver more dividends of democracy.

Offering royal blessings, the Onirete of Irete Ijebu, Abdulganiu Awokoya-Yesufu, described Adeleye as a worthy ambassador of Odogbolu and wished him success in his political ambition.

The event attracted party executives, youth and women leaders, and other stakeholders, reflecting broad-based support for the lawmaker’s second term bid.
