The Nigerian Navy (NN) has commissioned a fully furnished four-classroom block at Orhueren Central School, Ozalla Community, Owan West Local Government Area of Edo State, South-South Nigeria.

The commissioning ceremony took place on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, under the Chief of the Naval Staff Special Quick Impact Project (CNS-SQIP), in honour of Rear Admiral James Ohimai Okosun. The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to promote educational development and deepen civil–military cooperation within host communities.

The Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, represented by the Flag Officer Commanding Logistics Command (FOC LOG), Rear Admiral Abiodun Alade, said the project aligns with the vision of the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He noted that the intervention supports the Nigerian Navy’s reinvigorated Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) mandate and the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

According to him, the project reflects the Nigerian Navy’s commitment to honouring distinguished senior officers while contributing to national development through humanitarian and people-centred initiatives. He described the classroom block as another milestone in the Navy’s CIMIC engagements and urged beneficiaries to ensure proper use and maintenance of the facility.

In his remarks, the Project Facilitator, Rear Admiral James Ohimai Okosun, stated that the intervention represents the Navy’s non-kinetic approach to addressing insecurity by promoting education and sustaining harmonious civil–military relations.

Goodwill messages were delivered by community and traditional leaders, while residents and stakeholders applauded the Nigerian Navy for its positive developmental impact in Ozalla Community.
