Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State have unveiled Mrs. Kudirat Abiodun Adegunwa-Balogun as the running mate to the party’s governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The announcement, which has generated widespread reactions within political circles across the state, is being viewed as a major strategic step by the ruling party as it prepares for what is expected to be a highly competitive electoral contest.
Party leaders said the choice of Mrs. Adegunwa-Balogun followed extensive consultations among key stakeholders, political leaders, women groups, youth organizations, and party structures across the three senatorial districts of the state.
Political observers believe the selection reflects the APC’s determination to build a broad-based coalition capable of consolidating its influence across Ogun State while also strengthening women’s participation in leadership and governance.
Mrs. Adegunwa-Balogun is widely regarded as an accomplished administrator, community development advocate, and grassroots mobilizer with strong political and social networks across the state. Her emergence is expected to enhance the party’s outreach efforts, particularly among women and young voters.
The unveiling also signals the commencement of a new phase in the APC’s preparations for the 2027 elections, with party leaders expressing confidence that the Adeola-Adegunwa-Balogun ticket possesses the experience, political reach, and leadership credentials required to sustain the state’s development trajectory.

Senator Adeola, who currently represents Ogun West Senatorial District in the National Assembly, remains one of the most prominent political figures in Ogun State. Over the years, he has built a reputation as a lawmaker known for constituency projects, budgetary interventions, and advocacy for infrastructure development.
Supporters of the APC governorship candidate argue that his legislative experience, combined with the administrative and grassroots strengths of Mrs. Adegunwa-Balogun, presents a formidable ticket capable of appealing to voters across the state’s diverse political landscape.
The development has already sparked discussions among political analysts, many of whom see the vice-governorship choice as an attempt to balance political interests while strengthening the party’s support base ahead of the polls.
Stakeholders who attended the unveiling described the decision as one aimed at fostering inclusiveness, unity, and continuity within the party, emphasizing the need for all members to rally behind the ticket as preparations intensify for the election season.
With the APC now formally presenting its governorship and deputy governorship candidates, attention is expected to shift to campaign strategies, policy proposals, and efforts by opposition parties seeking to challenge the ruling party’s dominance in the Gateway State.
For many party faithful, however, the unveiling represents more than an electoral calculation. It is being projected as the beginning of a political partnership that APC leaders hope will deliver victory at the polls and provide continuity in governance beyond 2027.
