The Convener of the Yayi Progressives Movement (YPM), Armstrong ‘Tope Akintunde, has praised Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the party’s governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), over the emergence of Mrs. Kudirat Abiodun Balogun as the deputy governorship candidate for the 2027 governorship election in Ogun State.
Akintunde described the selection as a well-calculated and strategic decision that reflects the party’s commitment to competence, inclusiveness, unity and equitable representation across the state’s diverse political and geographical interests.
Mrs. Balogun, a respected corporate executive and finance professional, brings to the ticket decades of experience in corporate governance, manufacturing, business transformation, strategic leadership and financial management, qualities party stakeholders believe will strengthen the APC’s governorship campaign ahead of the 2027 polls.
In a statement issued on Monday in Abeokuta by the State Media Director of the movement, Oluseun Joshua, and signed by Akintunde, the YPM leader said the choice of Mrs. Balogun demonstrates political maturity and foresight on the part of the APC leadership.
According to him, the decision further reinforces the party’s determination to build a broad-based coalition capable of uniting the various interests and constituencies across Ogun State.
Akintunde noted that the emergence of Senator Adeola from Ogun West Senatorial District and Mrs. Balogun from Ijebuland reflects a balanced political arrangement capable of promoting inclusiveness, strengthening party cohesion and ensuring equitable representation.
He observed that the development sends a positive signal to party supporters and residents of the state who desire a government anchored on fairness, competence and collective progress.
“I celebrate our respected leaders and principals, Prince Dapo Abiodun, Senator Solomon Adeola and our great party for putting the right peg in the right hole. This is indeed a balanced and strategic arrangement that positions the APC strongly ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Ogun State,” Akintunde stated.
The YPM convener also highlighted the contributions of Mrs. Balogun’s father, renowned industrialist, philanthropist and Chairman of Rite Foods Limited, Alhaji Sulaiman Adebola Adegunwa, describing him as one of Ijebuland’s most respected sons whose entrepreneurial achievements have created jobs, inspired businesses and impacted thousands of lives across Nigeria.

According to Akintunde, the selection of Mrs. Balogun reflects the APC’s recognition of competence, service and leadership excellence.
He expressed confidence that the APC ticket would resonate strongly with voters across the state and further strengthen the party’s prospects in the next governorship election.
Akintunde added that the APC remains a party built on unity, progressive ideals and collective purpose, noting that the emergence of Mrs. Balogun would contribute significantly to the party’s efforts to consolidate support across all senatorial districts.
Also reacting to the development, the State Coordinator of the movement, Hon. Olusegun Kaka, commended the leadership of the APC for what he described as its strategic efforts in strengthening the party and positioning it for future electoral success.
Kaka expressed optimism that the APC would record decisive victories in the 2027 general elections, citing the party’s growing support base, strong grassroots structure and leadership credentials.
He maintained that the APC remains the dominant political force in Ogun State and expressed confidence that its candidates would secure victory at various levels of the election.
The Yayi Progressives Movement reiterated its commitment to grassroots mobilisation, political education and the promotion of progressive leadership across Ogun State.
The group said it would continue to support leaders and policies capable of delivering sustainable development, economic prosperity, social inclusion and good governance for the people of the state.
