Deputy Comptroller Adewole Assumes Office as Acting CAC at Nigeria Customs Oyo/Osun Command

Seamless transition as Comptroller Gambo Aliyu redeployed to FOU Zone A, Ikeja; incoming Acting CAC pledges professionalism, integrity and enhanced performance

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Oyo/Osun Area Command, has witnessed a smooth change of leadership with the assumption of office of Deputy Comptroller of Customs (DC) Moses Wale Adewole as the Acting Customs Area Controller (CAC).

Adewole takes over following the redeployment of the former CAC, Comptroller Gambo Iyere Aliyu, to the Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone A, Ikeja, Lagos State, in South-West Nigeria.

Speaking during the formal handing-over ceremony, DC Adewole expressed profound gratitude to the Comptroller-General of Customs and the NCS Management Team for the confidence reposed in him.

“This appointment is a call to higher service. I am fully committed to upholding the core values of professionalism, integrity, discipline and teamwork in the discharge of my responsibilities,” Adewole said.

The Acting Controller commended Comptroller Aliyu for what he described as “exemplary leadership,” noting the outgoing CAC’s achievements in revenue generation, anti-smuggling operations and stakeholder engagement.

“We will consolidate on the gains already recorded and work assiduously to exceed existing milestones in line with the mandate of the Nigeria Customs Service,” he assured.

Adewole outlined key operational priorities of his administration to include transparent and efficient revenue collection, strengthened anti-smuggling operations through collaboration with sister agencies, continuous capacity building and improved welfare for officers, enhanced work ethics and discipline, as well as sustained engagement with traditional institutions, business communities, importers, exporters and other stakeholders across Oyo and Osun States.

In his remarks, the outgoing CAC, Comptroller Gambo Aliyu, described his tenure as both fulfilling and impactful, attributing recorded successes to strong collaboration with the governments and people of Oyo and Osun States, effective synergy with sister security agencies and consistent engagement with traditional rulers within the Command’s jurisdiction.

“Our improved revenue performance was driven by enhanced compliance, structured engagement with excise factories and the deployment of the B’odogwu Unified Customs Management System,” Aliyu noted.

He also lauded officers and men of the Command for their professionalism and resilience, which, according to him, translated into notable anti-smuggling successes and protection of the national economy.

The outgoing Controller urged his successor to sustain capacity-building initiatives, deepen engagement with border communities and ensure the completion of the Command’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project — the proposed Solar-Powered Healthcare Centre at Iragbiji, headquarters of Boripe Local Government Area, Osun State.

The ceremony concluded with goodwill messages, reaffirming the shared commitment of officers and men of the Command to service excellence, continuity and the overarching vision of the Nigeria Customs Service.

Highlights from the event marked the official assumption of duty by Deputy Comptroller of Customs Moses Wale Adewole as Acting Customs Area Controller of the NCS, Oyo/Osun Area Command, following the redeployment of Comptroller Gambo Iyere Aliyu to FOU Zone A, Ikeja.
