Gov. Dapo Abiodun Leads Tributes as Ogun State Honours Olusegun Awolowo Jr.

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has paid glowing tribute to Olusegun Awolowo Jr., describing him as an embodiment of dignity, clarity and exceptional public service whose legacy will remain deeply felt across the state and the nation.

Speaking at the Night of Tributes held in honour of the late statesman, Governor Abiodun said Awolowo carried the iconic Awolowo heritage with “grace, calm conviction and a profound sense of duty,” noting that his contributions to strengthening Nigeria’s economic and development frameworks were both sincere and impactful.

Abiodun, who joined the Awolowo family, friends and associates at the solemn gathering, reflected on the magnitude of the loss, especially for Awolowo’s aged mother, his wife, and children.

“His passing creates a painful void, but his legacy—marked by honour, discipline, responsibility and service—remains a guiding light for Ogun State and for Nigeria,” the governor said.

He prayed for divine comfort for the bereaved family and reaffirmed that Ogun State would forever remember Olusegun Awolowo Jr. with gratitude.

“May his gentle soul find peaceful and eternal rest,” Abiodun added.
