Tinubu Appoints Rukaiya El-Rufai, Joseph Tegbe to Lead National Tax Reform Implementation Committee

President Bola Tinubu inaugurates a new high-level committee to drive Nigeria’s tax reform rollout, with Joseph Tegbe as chair and Rukaiya El-Rufai among key members tasked with building a fairer, more transparent revenue system.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the establishment of the National Tax Policy Implementation Committee (NTPIC), a new body mandated to supervise the rollout of Nigeria’s updated tax reform framework.

The committee will be chaired by policy expert Joseph Tegbe and supervised by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun. The team includes Sanyade Okoli as Secretary, along with Ismaeel Ahmed, Rukaiya El-Rufai, and other seasoned professionals from finance, law, and civil society.

According to the Presidency, the NTPIC is expected to work closely with federal and state institutions, private-sector stakeholders, and the public to ensure smooth implementation of the reforms.

President Tinubu described the new tax laws as essential to building a modern, fair, and transparent revenue system—one that strengthens the economy while safeguarding citizens and businesses.

The committee’s mandate includes nationwide consultations, public sensitization, improved coordination among agencies, and plugging revenue leakages to boost economic stability.
