2027: ARTISANS ALIGN WITH YAYI PROGRESSIVES MOVEMENT IN OGUN

Akintunde hails partnership as grassroots mobilisation gains momentum ahead of elections

The Yayi Progressives Movement (YPM) in Ogun State has expanded its grassroots reach following a strategic collaboration with a prominent artisans’ association, in what observers describe as a significant boost to political mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The engagement, held in Abeokuta on Thursday, brought together key leaders of the artisans’ body from across the state, including the Chairman of its Board of Trustees, Hon. Kehinde Odeneye, the State President, and other senior executives.

Also in attendance were Comrade Ayodele Anthony, members of the League of Presidents representing affiliated artisan groups, divisional coordinators, state executive members, and local government chairmen of the association.

Receiving the delegation, the State Coordinator of the Movement, Hon. Olusegun Kaka, described the development as a reflection of the group’s growing acceptance among grassroots stakeholders and professional bodies.

According to him, the Movement remains open to all individuals and organisations willing to contribute to progressive political development in Ogun State.

“At today’s meeting, where we formally received the executives of the Artisans Association into the Yayi Progressives Movement, we resolved to work together in mobilising widespread grassroots support for Distinguished Senator Adeola as part of our collective assignment toward the 2027 governorship election,” Kaka stated.

The collaboration is expected to strengthen support for Senator Solomon Adeola’s governorship ambition, as both groups pledged to work jointly in mobilising voters across communities.

Reacting, the Convener of the Movement, Armstrong ‘Tope Akintunde, described the alliance as a major step in consolidating the Movement’s position as a leading grassroots political platform in the state.

“I warmly welcome all artisans and their executives into our movement. The Yayi Progressives Movement has grown into a large platform with over 30,000 members, and with the inclusion of artisans and other groups joining soon, we are optimistic of reaching nearly 100,000 supporters before the general elections,” he said.

Akintunde reiterated that the Movement’s core objective remains mobilising support for candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) across all elective positions, including presidential, governorship, National Assembly, and State House of Assembly elections.

He also commended coordinators and members working behind the scenes, noting that sustained grassroots engagement continues to yield tangible political results.

As preparations for the 2027 elections gather pace, the Yayi Progressives Movement says it will continue to prioritise inclusiveness, stakeholder engagement, and unity among professional and community groups.

The Movement further called on artisans, youths, professionals, and residents of Ogun State to join its platform, describing it as a people-driven initiative committed to progressive leadership and sustainable development2
