President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday met with Nigeria’s service chiefs and heads of intelligence agencies at the State House, Abuja, giving new marching orders to reinforce national security and accelerate results in the fight against terrorism, banditry, and emerging threats.
The closed-door session, which lasted over an hour, comes as part of renewed efforts by the administration to stabilise vulnerable regions and ensure a peaceful and safe festive season for all citizens.
Present at the meeting were the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; Director-General, DSS, Mr. Oluwatosin Ajayi; Director-General, NIA, Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed; Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede; Chief of Defence Intelligence, Lt-Gen Emmanuel Undiadeye; Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen Wahidi Shaibu; Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas; and Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Kelvin Aneke.
Briefing journalists afterward, General Oluyede described the engagement as “quite engaging,” stating that President Tinubu emphasized improved efficiency, tighter inter-agency coordination, and more effective execution of operations across all fronts.
He assured that Nigerians would see measurable improvements in security in the coming weeks, especially as the country approaches the yuletide.
Tuesday’s meeting is part of the President’s ongoing high-level consultations with security institutions following his earlier declaration of a national security emergency to confront escalating threats nationwide.
